June 22 update: If you have lost your digital signal...

If you are having problems receiving KTVZ, please use the "rescan" function on your Digital TV converter box to again locate our channel. If you continue to have problems with your reception, please call KTVZ at 383.2121. Thank you.

June 3 update: KFXO-HD (Ch 39.1) over the air/KFXO-SD (Ch. 10) on Bend Broadband

This morning KFXO-HD (Ch. 39.1) over the air was running at about 30% power from approximately 9AM to 3PM. We were asked to lower our transmitter output power to allow tower climbers on an adjacent tower to work safely.

After the tower climbers were finished we had some issues getting the transmitter to come back up to 100%. Viewers may have experienced a loss of signal or a decrease in signal strength during this period of time.

We also experienced issues on KFXO-SD (Ch. 10) on Bend Broadband. These issues were a result of a bad video cable to the KFXO-SD encoder.

All issues have been resolved and everything is back to 100%.

Thank you,

Amador Velasquez III

May 21 update: Network issues during American Idol on KFXO-HD

In the first hour of last night's HD broadcast of American Idol on KFXO-HD, we experienced several video and audio glitches coming from the Network feed. We called Fox Network TOC immediately for assistance.

Being that we were airing the Results Show of American Idol, Fox decided to immediately switch us over to the backup network feed. This backup feed is on a different receiver and a different satellite dish.

The first few times we switched over to the backup HD feed we found that Fox had not properly reprogrammed our satellite receiver and instead of seeing American Idol all we got was a test pattern.

After several attempts Fox was finally able to get us the correct feed and we were back on track. Later coming out of a local commercial break Fox accidently switched our backup receiver back to the test pattern. We called them immediately and had it resolved.

As is the case with most network owned equipment, they have complete control of what we receive from them. Even if we wanted to make changes to the system we cannot because the control system is locked.

We have scheduled a conference call with the Head of Fox Satellite Distribution. We are determined to get this issue resolved. No one is more upset by the issues that we experienced last night than the staff here at KFXO.

May 12 update: Video and audio glitches during Fox Primetime Programming

KFXO experienced several video glitches during last night's Primetime broadcast. The problem was in the network satellite receiver system.

After a call to the Fox Network TOC the problem was resolved. We are taking steps to insure that tonight's Primetime Programming is not affected.

April 15 update: Video and audio glitches being addressed

KTVZ replaced its HD encoder for channel 21.1 over the air and channel 605 on Bend Broadband cable.

This took place on 4/8/09 and since this installation we have seen a significant decrease in the amount of video and audio glitches over the air and on cable.

We are not convinced that we have the issue completely resolved, however we are making great strides to increase the quality of our product.

KTVZ will continue to bringing our viewers the best HD service possible.

April 8 update: Fox Network glitches during American Idol

During last night's airing of American Idol on KFXO-HD/SD, we had some video and audio glitches that were not associated with the issue described on April 7.

Last night's problem came from the Fox Network satellite receiver system.

Fox Network tried to dial into the system to troubleshoot it but was unable to connect over the internet.

We are working with Fox Network to restore communications between us and them.

In the meantime we are up on a backup satellite feed that will not experience the same issues during tonight's airing of American Idol.

April 7 update: Video and audio glitches being addressed

KTVZ recently purchased a device for increasing the picture quality of all our DTV channels.

We were specifically trying to improve KTVZ-HD channel 21.1 over the air and KTVZ-HD channel 605 on Bend Broadband cable.

The equipment takes all of our digital services and distributes the allocated bandwidth accordingly to attain the best possible picture.

For example, the HD channels would be provided more bandwidth during sporting events due to the fast motion of the athletes and cameras.

While the overall picture quality was significantly increased, we began to notice annoying video and audio glitches in the service.

We have been working with the manufacturer of the device to try and resolve this issue.

Unfortunately it has taken longer than we expected.

KTVZ is committed to providing a quality HD service and we will find a solution as fast as possible.

Please check back with us regularly for updates on this and any other technical issues involving all of our services.

Thank you,
