Reporter/Weathercaster, NewsChannel 21
I've always loved writing, and I remember my first "reporting" experience was in sixth grade. For a school project, my friend and I reported on the first Starbucks coming to town -- that was big news back then!
I went through high school with plans to go to Washington State University and enroll in the Edward R. Murrow journalism program. got in, but my parents convinced me to try one year in-state at the University of Idaho, and four years later I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Radio, TV and Digital Media Production and an emphasis in Communications.
During college, I was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and reported for both the TV and radio stations at the college.
After graduating, I wanted to try living in a city, so I packed all my belongings in my Volkswagen Beetle and drove to Portland. I worked a few different jobs but was always dreaming of a job in broadcast journalism.
I came to Bend in January of 2010 and took a reporting job with the station after a few months of interning. I recently trained in weather, and now will be bringing you the weekend forecasts on NewsChannel 21.
Bend and my hometown Sandpoint, Idaho are very similar. I grew up boating and camping on Lake Pend O'reille and snowboarding at Schweitzer in the winter. Now I camp at the Cascade Lakes in the summer and hit up Mt. Bachelor in the winter.
I feel very lucky to live in such a great town and share compelling stories with our community.
