Cove Palisades bans briquette BBQs in fire's wake

Oregon State Parks banned barbecues using charcoal briquettes Sunday throughout Cove Palisades State Park and took other steps to prevent a repeat of a 200-acre fire that destroyed two homes near Culver, forced evacuations and was traced to improperly disposed of briquettes.

Reporter, Weekend Anchor/Producer, NewsChannel 21

I moved to Central Oregon in June 2013 from St. Louis, Mo.  Although I’m far away from home, I am so excited to see what new adventures I can find in the Cascades!

I was hired as Weekend Anchor/Producer and weekday reporter for KTVZ. I am especially excited about this position because I get to experience every aspect the news has to offer.

I graduated from The Ohio State University, where I majored in public affairs journalism and minored in news production and analysis. I reported for The Lantern, Ohio State’s student paper and multimedia platform.

I've had several internships and jobs in the journalism field. I interned at NBC Affiliates, KSDK, in St. Louis, Mo, and Columbus, Ohio. I also interned with NBC Bay Area in their investigative journalism department. I worked with Ohio State University’s NPR station as an assistant producer to a morning talk show.

Broadcast journalism is my dream job, because I get to keep people informed by telling your stories. My favorite part of what I do is the people I do it for. You all make the job so meaningful and special and I am so excited to be a part of the Bend and Central Oregon community.

Some fun facts about me: I am an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. I was a competitive Irish dancer from age 9 to 22. My last competition was November 2012, and now I do it for fun and fitness. I have a red-tick coon-hound named Mila Coonis (pun intended). If you see me around town, she will likely be at my side.
