  • ...Risk of strong thunderstorms this afternoon and evening... Increased instability and moderate wind shear...thanks in large part to an unseasonably strong upper level low over Southern California...will help fuel strong to potentially severe thunderstorms over much of the area today. The best chance for strong storms exists over far southeast Oregon and much of southwest and southcentral Idaho...generally south of the mountains. Some storms will be capable of producing around a half inch of rain in as little as half an hour...along with wind gusts to 50 mph...and hail less than an inch in diameter. The very strongest storms will be capable of even larger hail...wind gusts to 60 mph...and torrential rainfall that could exceed even a half inch in less than half an hour. Please make sure to stay updated with the latest weather information as the day progresses. We will be updating our forecast throughout the day via our website...NOAA all-hazards radio...and various social media...such as facebook and twitter.
